About the Role
Carefirst Seniors & Community Services Association is seeking a Personal Support Worker to join their team at the Transitional Care Centre. This role involves providing personal care services in a 24-hour respite care setting, assisting with program activities, and documenting client care.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services including bathing, grooming, skin care, dressing, toileting, lifts/transfers, mobility assistance, meal assistance, and medication reminders.
- Assist with program planning and facilitation of client activities.
- Document daily care provided to clients.
- Assess, intervene, and report incidents and changes in client status.
- Ensure rooms are clean and free from hazards.
Requirements
- Graduated from a recognized Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate program.
- At least 2 years' experience in a long-term care facility/hospital setting.
- Current certification in First Aid & CPR, and Food Handling.
- Must be available to work shifts, including overnights, weekends, and holidays.
- Sensitivity to adults with needs related to aging, physical and mental health.
- Ability to perform client transfers and daily living activities; lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stretch, and stand for extended periods.
- Physically and mentally able to complete PSW duties without restrictions.
- Possess a caring attitude and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in English and a second language (e.g., Cantonese, Mandarin) is an asset.
- A valid vulnerable sector police record check completed within one year.
