About the Role
Northwinds Services Group is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant for their Rochester, NY location. The Staff Accountant will have a broad set of responsibilities, encompassing accounting, transaction processing, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
Responsibilities
- Prepare supporting schedules and record regular journal entries in general ledger systems
- Prepare general ledger account reconciliations on a monthly basis across affiliated companies
- Fixed asset maintenance in sub-ledger and general ledger across affiliated companies
- Perform monthly expense account analysis to ensure accurate cost reporting
- Review transactional details and postings for accuracy and reasonableness
- Review job costing to ensure accurate recording of revenues and expenses
- Various additional accounting and financial reporting tasks
- Serve as backup to other Accounting Department team members
- Special projects as assigned
Requirements
- Degree in Accounting or 2+ years prior accounting experience
- Superior communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Office suite of products
- Prior experience working with business software programs a plus, including Sage Intaact, ServiceTitan, and Quickbooks
- Ability to meet deadlines while maintaining superior quality and accuracy
- Aptitude for detailed work, data analysis, problem solving and follow-up
