About the Role
Leidos is seeking a Research Assistant in Audiology to support the Naval Submarine Research Laboratory (NSMRL) in Groton, CT. This role involves conducting research studies to investigate the effects of medical, psychological, and performance issues on Naval personnel.
Responsibilities
- Assist Principal Investigator (PI) in experimental planning, data collection, and data analysis.
- Develop scientific protocols for human research.
- Assist with audiology research using experimental apparatuses for hearing protection devices and communication systems.
- Execute setup, testing, and troubleshooting of experimental equipment.
- Recruit research subjects and coordinate with personnel for protocol execution.
- Communicate with external audiologists and hearing conservation researchers.
- Prepare and present reports and presentations.
- Adhere to scientific review board and institutional board review procedures.
- Assist in budget development and tracking, and coordinate with acquisition personnel.
- Prepare travel and purchase requests.
- Provide other research-related support as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a field related to hearing science (acoustics or hearing science coursework).
- Documented evidence of research methods experience (Bachelors thesis or coursework).
- Ability to interact and communicate effectively, written and orally.
- Ability to apply research knowledge to NSMRL Command and Navy missions.
- Desire to pursue a career in life sciences supporting military health sciences.
- Ability to acquire a SECRET classification access level.
- US citizenship is required.
- Maintain a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
Skills
- Foundational and theoretical understanding of general scientific principles.
- Familiarity with HIPAA, PHI/PII compliance.
- Computer literacy.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Working knowledge of statistical software.
