About the Role
The Patient Safety Companion monitors patients closely at all times to ensure their safety, assists with activities of daily living, and performs general patient care duties as directed by the Registered Nurse. This role also provides clerical support for the nurse's station when not actively functioning as a Patient Safety Companion.
Responsibilities
- Monitors the patient closely at all times and never leaves the patient alone to ensure patient safety.
- Assists patients with activities of daily living.
- Performs other general patient care duties as directed by the Registered Nurse.
- Notifies the Registered Nurse immediately of any patient concerns.
- Provides clerical support for the nurse’s station as assigned.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Basic Life Support and MUSC Safety Care Training required within 4 weeks of hire.
- Must maintain Basic Life Support and MUSC Safety Care Training thereafter.
- Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
