About the Role

A laborer is required to perform intensive physical construction labor duties such as hand digging while utilizing various tools and methods around all underground utilities for service and main work. This includes digging trenches, backfilling, and compacting. Laborers must be physically capable of performing assigned work, possess proficient safety skills, deliver quality workmanship, and maintain a trustworthy reputation.

Responsibilities

Operate construction equipment such as Dump Trucks, Tampers, Generators, and Air Compressors.
Maintain the cleanliness of all company-owned and rented vehicles/equipment.
Check and maintain fluid levels and grease fittings on equipment daily.
Demonstrate thorough knowledge of hazards associated with working around natural gas and heavy equipment.
Adhere to safety precautions for working near trenches.
Listen, learn, and communicate effectively with the foreman and other laborers.
Lift and carry materials and perform duties using hand and power tools.
Hand dig with a shovel and dig bars.
Work in all types of weather conditions.
Travel to new locations within Central Hudson, Orange, Rockland, and Pike territories upon request.
Avoid using a cell phone while working.
Adhere to safety standards and procedures defined by Precision Pipeline Solutions.
Properly utilize Stop Work/Time Out Responsibility when necessary.
Pass all required NGA Laborer qualifications.

Requirements

Valid driver's license for at least 1 year.
Ability to safely operate a motorized vehicle.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to climb, balance, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, push, pull, twist, and make repetitive hand movements.
Ability to load, carry, lift, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
Effective communication skills and ability to speak clearly with team members.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.
Ability to act with integrity and respect of personal and public property.
Ability to work in all types of weather.
