About the Role

Loop is seeking a Credit and Collections Specialist to manage the full credit lifecycle, from initial lending decisions to loan recovery. This role offers the unique opportunity to influence underwriting strategies based on collections insights and to help build and scale the credit function within a fast-growing fintech company.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite business credit applications, assessing creditworthiness and recommending limits.
  • Analyze financial statements, bank data, credit bureau reports, and payment history.
  • Conduct due diligence on applicants and manage security agreements.
  • Monitor the existing portfolio, reassess exposure, and action remediation.
  • Document credit decisions and rationales clearly.
  • Own a portfolio of past-due accounts from initial outreach to resolution.
  • Contact customers via phone and email to collect outstanding balances and negotiate repayment arrangements.
  • Draft formal correspondence, including payment reminders and demand letters.
  • Manage legal recovery matters, working with internal teams, external counsel, and collection agencies.
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and report delinquency status.
  • Identify patterns in delinquency to improve underwriting criteria and collections strategies.
  • Build scalable processes, tooling, and automation for the credit and recovery functions.

Requirements

  • 2+ years in credit, underwriting, collections, lending, commercial banking, or a related financial services role.
  • Strong analytical ability to assess business financial health.
  • Sound judgment with imperfect information and awareness to escalate when necessary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Comfortable with high volume and competing priorities in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Genuine interest in using data, tooling, and automation for efficiency.
  • Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and Google Workspace.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Conversational French preferred.
