About the Role
Design mixed-signal electronics for space terminals and ground station receivers, focusing on high-speed data converters, amplifiers, driver circuits, and FPGA interfaces where signal integrity is critical.
Responsibilities
- Design schematic and PCB layouts for mixed-signal boards, including high-speed data converters, transimpedance amplifiers, laser/modulator drivers, low-noise bias supplies, and clocking.
- Perform signal integrity and power integrity analysis for multi-GHz analog paths and high-speed serial links.
- Develop precision analog control loops for laser temperature/current control, photodiode bias, FSM drive electronics, and AGC chains.
- Bring up, debug, and characterize boards in the lab, verifying noise, linearity, and bandwidth against link budget allocations.
- Define and implement FPGA interfaces to data converters and control peripherals, collaborating on or implementing RTL for data capture, calibration, and real-time control.
- Design for reliability and environment, including derating, worst-case analysis, and parts selection for space applications.
- Support EMC/EMI design and testing, and environmental qualification campaigns.
Requirements
- BS/MS in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 4+ years of mixed-signal hardware design experience.
- Experience with high-speed PCB design (Altium, Cadence Allegro, or similar).
- Strong analog fundamentals, including noise analysis, op-amp and TIA design, PLLs/clocking, and power supply design.
- Hands-on lab experience with oscilloscopes, spectrum/network analyzers, and automated board characterization.
- Experience interfacing data converters to FPGAs.
- Familiarity with space-grade electronics design, including radiation effects, redundancy, and derating standards.
- Experience with low-jitter clock distribution and time-transfer systems.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, protected individual, or eligible to obtain necessary U.S. Department of State authorizations.

About the Company
- Azora is building high-bandwidth communications infrastructure for environments where fiber cannot reach, including LEO spacecraft constellations, lunar exploration missions, GEO satcom, deployable optical ground for defense, and data centers.
- The company is developing compact and modular optical terminals small enough to deploy from a backpack, and space terminals supporting high-speed optical links from LEO out to the Moon.
Equal Opportunity
- Azora is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
- If you need a reasonable accommodation as part of your application for employment or interviews with us, please let us know by contacting info@azora.space.
