About the Role
The Central-West Orana Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Transmission Project is seeking a dedicated Senior Project Engineer – Electrical to join the Energy Hubs and Substations teams. This role involves providing leadership, ensuring quality, managing project delivery, and maintaining project schedules for the construction of new high-capacity transmission lines and supporting infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Provides positive leadership to subcontractors, monitors and controls their performance, and ensures the quality and standard of workmanship.
- Drives commitment to quality both top down and bottom up.
- Ensures appropriate personnel are in place with delegated responsibilities to guarantee quality procedures are integrated.
- Ensures project team completes all outstanding defects as a priority.
- Ensures implementation of project quality plan.
- Provides support and advice on planning and design suitability, use of materials, resources, components or systems, and construction practices.
- Manages the operational aspects of project delivery for effective and efficient use of systems and processes.
- Identifies appropriate authorities for obtaining approvals and interrelationships between them.
- Maintains project schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities, and resolving problems.
- Prepares project status reports and change orders.
Requirements
- Experience constructing outdoor air insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above.
- Preferable 7 years’ experience in a construction / engineering environment, on large scale renewable energy and substations projects.
- Bachelor’s degree (Engineering).
- Relevant Tertiary Education.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others.
- Presented problem solving / analytical skills.
- Demonstrated relevant leadership skills.
- Ensuring all relevant regulatory requirements are satisfied.
- Competent in planning and organising work schedules.
- Working knowledge of HS&E requirements and implementation of same.
- Competent with cost control of projects.
- Clear communication – verbal and written.
- High attention to detail.
- Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Package.
