About the Role
TAR builds fully islanded solar and storage campuses that power AI data centers. As Construction Process Optimization Engineer, you will own installation productivity on the ground, embedded with our EPC and their crews through the build of our first campus. This role involves optimizing the installation process and its surrounding logistics, with a focus on empirical testing and standardization for future campuses. This is a senior, field-heavy role requiring extensive time at our West Texas site.
Responsibilities
- Run structured time-and-motion studies across major installation activities to build TAR's productivity baseline.
- Identify and quantify true bottlenecks impacting schedule and cost.
- Design and execute field experiments on crew size, sequencing, staging, and methods, then standardize successful approaches.
- Solve recurring physical problems with scalable methods.
- Build the material logistics system from scratch, including delivery cadence, laydown plans, kitting, and staging.
- Establish the QA/QC process for installation to minimize rework.
- Codify processes into standard work, including playbooks and training materials, and train EPC crews.
- Feed constructability findings back into engineering and procurement to improve future campus designs.
Requirements
- 5+ years in process or industrial engineering, construction execution, or capital projects, with substantial field experience.
- Hands-on construction project experience (EPC, owner, or consulting) with an understanding of field work flow and scalable improvements.
- Proficiency in measurement-based tools like time studies, takt and line-of-balance, lean methods, work sampling, and bottleneck analysis.
- Data skills including Excel (required), Python or SQL (a plus).
- Comfort spending extended periods at a remote West Texas site.
- Temperament to earn credibility with field crews.
- A builder's bias towards experimentation over documentation.
