About the Role
Build AI is seeking a Data Compliance professional to ensure that the scaling team can collect data efficiently while adhering to all legal and consent requirements. This role involves creating necessary documentation, ensuring legal compliance for data collection, storage, and usage, and integrating these controls into the operational workflow.
Responsibilities
- Write and maintain documentation for consent, contractor/worker terms, privacy notices, retention, and cross-border transfers for data collection.
- Implement privacy-by-design principles into the data collection process, including consent capture, data minimization, retention/deletion, and access controls.
- Enable scaling by ensuring the collection strategy is legally compliant, covering new countries and setups.
- Collaborate with operations, marketplace, and software teams to integrate consent and legality into product workflows.
- Manage trade and cross-border issues for collection devices and data, specifying what can be moved internationally.
- Verify that actual practices align with documented policies and address any discrepancies.
Requirements
- Experience in privacy, employment/contractor, or data-collection compliance within an operational company, not just theoretical policy.
- Ability to both write compliance documentation and ensure its practical implementation in the field.
- View legal compliance as a facilitator of scale rather than an impediment.
- Comfortable with physical labor data collection in a fast-paced, multi-country environment.
