- Manage the operating budget (opex) and headcount, implement a cost-effective tooling strategy, and embed FinOps for cloud spend management and value demonstration.
- Enhance developer experience by making the platform desirable, reducing friction, and utilizing metrics like DORA and feedback for continuous improvement.
- Oversee performance, resilience, and observability for revenue-critical services, ensuring security and compliance (e.g., PCI-DSS, GDPR).
- Align platform strategy with business goals and translate technical trade-offs into clear decisions for executive stakeholders.
Requirements

- Experience owning budget and headcount, with commercial judgment to balance cost, speed, and risk.
- Strong cloud-native and modern DevOps background, including cloud platforms (ideally AWS), Kubernetes, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and observability.
- Sufficient engineering depth (e.g., Java, .NET, Python) to engage credibly with senior engineers.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with a record of influencing at the executive level and growing engineering leaders.
- Experience building or operating an Internal Developer Platform or developer tooling (Backstage experience is a plus).
- Familiarity with tools such as Terraform, GitHub Actions, and Octopus (or equivalents), and FinOps/cloud cost management.
- Experience in regulated, high-availability, or high-transaction-volume domains (e.g., travel, retail, payments) is desirable.
- Ability to identify opportunities to drive greater success for the team and build strong relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Must not require visa sponsorship to work in the UK.
