About the Role

This Director role within Liquidity Management is critical to Treasury at Schwab. The position focuses on enhancing Liquidity and Collateral Planning frameworks, integrating them into the broader Balance Sheet Management Strategy, and leading functional and modeling teams into a cohesive framework for executive communication. This role has high impact and visibility, playing a critical part in the organization's financial health and stability.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive funding plan across all entities, including collateral management and optimization.
  • Provide guidance to the Investment Portfolio for future actions and support capital planning.
  • Communicate funding strategies across various instruments (e.g., Broker CDs, Repo, FHLB) for both BAU and stressed liquidity scenarios.
  • Refine and elevate the liquidity forecasting and strategy framework, including addressing MRAs and developing new capabilities.
  • Support the growth of the client margin lending business by scaling funding levers.
  • Develop and manage a comprehensive BAU Liquidity Forecast and Strategy.
  • Create capabilities to prepare for unexpected and contingent funding or balance sheet needs.
  • Define and build liquidity forecasting strategies that can withstand regulatory scrutiny.
  • Serve as a thought leader and subject matter expert on liquidity and funding strategies.
  • Effectively communicate strategies and recommendations to regulators and executive leadership.
  • Provide recommendations and influence Investment Strategy, Capital Management, Parent Liquidity, Funding Plan, Collateral Management Strategy, and Broker Dealer liquidity strategies.
  • Convey complex messages effectively to diverse audiences through written and presentation formats.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years of financial services experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years of liquidity strategy and forecasting experience in environments of similar scale and complexity.
  • Deep technical foundations and experience working across trading, funding/repo desks, liquidity risk, and balance sheet modeling.
  • Experience building and leading a highly technical team of liquidity and funding analysts.
  • Deep expertise with investment strategy related to diverse capital portfolios, capital management, collateral management, and broker dealer liquidity strategies.
  • Thorough understanding of the application and requirements associated with 15c3-3 calculations and their impact on liquidity management and funding.
  • Experience staying abreast of the evolving regulatory landscape.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize numerous initiatives.
  • Exceptional communicator able to convey the robustness of liquidity strategies and provide accurate responses to investors and regulators.
  • Ability to interact with high-level leaders.
  • Keen attention to detail and complex knowledge of the impact of liquidity strategies and programs.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
