About the Role
Responsible for the overall direction and sound management of the After School Recreation Program.
Responsibilities
- Plan and implement age-appropriate program activities consistent with the program’s philosophy.
- Maintain proper record keeping, including attendance, registration, and program files.
- Plan and implement policies and procedures to protect participant safety and enhance health.
- Organize and plan field trips and camping for participants.
- Develop short/long term planning goals and an action plan to support the program’s mission.
- Write grant proposals when necessary.
- Seek appropriate donations for residents.
- Supervise staff, develop staff and programs, communicate with families, and build relationships with the community and corporations.
- Complete incident reports using the Department of Homeless Services (DHS) - Client Assistance and Re-housing Enterprise System (CARES).
- Support the center’s code of ethical conduct.
- Engage in ongoing staff development to improve personal and professional skills.
- Maintain regular contact with departmental and other staff and volunteers.
- Attend staff meetings, workshops, and in-service training.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Two years’ experience in a recreational or educational setting.
- Knowledge of office systems, including Microsoft.
- Effective leadership and communication skills.
- Teambuilding abilities.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Computer literate in Microsoft-Office.
- May be required to work long hours and a varied schedule.
- Must be able to travel throughout various locations in the New York City area.
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 30 pounds several times a week.
