About the Role

To access need and determine the best course of action in which the Spring Valley Corps of the Salvation Army may assist individuals who come in for help. These responsibilities will include but are not limited to intake interviews, food pantry program, Good Neighbor Fund, Veolia Water Company, Holiday Assistance and other special annual assistance programs.

Responsibilities

• Conduct intake interviews to determine client needs and the best course of action for assistance.
• Provide services such as food pantry, rental assistance, Good Neighbor Fund, and Veolia Water Fund.
• Refer clients to other appropriate agencies when necessary.
• Consult with Corps Officers for unique client requests.
• Manage the food pantry program, including interviewing clients, record-keeping, reporting, statistics, food distribution, ordering supplies, and organizing food drives.
• Complete annual grant applications and reports for the food pantry.
• Administer the Good Neighbor Fund, including client guidance, intake, qualification determination, application completion, record-keeping, reporting, and statistics.
• Provide guidance and intake for the Veolia Water Company program, including qualification determination, application completion, record-keeping, reporting, and statistics.
• Plan, organize, and implement annual special assistance programs, such as Holiday Assistance, including intake, distribution, volunteer coordination, and resource management.
• Maintain regular office hours for intake, food pantry, and other programs.
• Attend training opportunities provided by The Salvation Army and other agencies.
• Represent The Salvation Army at local networking events.
• Oversee community service workers and provide necessary reports.
• Manage front office volunteers and senior workers.
• Answer all incoming phone calls.
• Perform any other duties assigned by the Corps Officers.

Requirements

• BA in Social Work or related field.
• 2 years of experience in a related field.
• Commitment and desire to assist those in need.
• Understanding of, and desire to assist in fulfilling the mission of The Salvation Army.
• Well-organized and able to prioritize.
• Self-motivated and able to work under little supervision.
