About the Role

As a Teacher Assistant, you will work in integrated and self-contained preschool classrooms, collaborating with the Special Education Teacher to create a safe, warm, and caring educational environment. You will adhere to OCFS regulations, follow the schoolwide PBIS initiative, and work with classroom staff, parents, education consultants, and administration.

Responsibilities

• Work under the supervision of the classroom teacher.
• Assist in caring for the physical needs of children.
• Attend staffing and departmental in-service meetings as assigned.
• Assist in keeping classroom and program supplies ready and well maintained.
• Maintain professional ethics regarding the discussion of pupils and their conditions.
• Adhere to Program and Agency policies.
• Assist individuals with toileting and personal care needs when necessary.
• Assist with behavior management of children under the supervision of the classroom teacher as outlined by Program and Agency policies.
• Interact with children in a nurturing and developmentally appropriate way, encouraging self-help.
• Assist in child observation, records keeping, and assessment.

Requirements

• High School education or GED.
• Two (2) years of practical experience working with children is preferred.
• Level I NYS Teacher Assistant Certification preferred.

• $17.00-$20.00 per hour
