About the Role
The Employment Development Specialist will connect with and work with employers to develop job opportunities that match the skills, abilities, and interests of clients, aiming to assist them in securing and retaining meaningful employment. Program assignments may vary.
Responsibilities
- Develop professional, consistent, and ongoing relationships with employers and stakeholders.
- Attend community activities and events to promote client job placements and programming.
- Stay current with local job market developments, networking, and identifying opportunities.
- Develop job identification strategies and market clients to employers.
- Review client skills and contact employers with potential job vacancies.
- Negotiate wage subsidy agreements with employers.
- Actively recruit employers and build strong relationships.
- Achieve monthly targets and Key Performance Indicators.
- Assist clients in developing, improving, and implementing job search and retention strategies.
- Maintain regular communication with clients and Career Specialists.
- Perform follow-up with clients and employers to ensure job performance.
- Support clients through one-on-one communication and facilitate group networking.
- Ensure clients understand employment requirements, employer expectations, and terms.
- Address safety issues with clients and/or employers prior to job placement.
- Prepare a detailed work plan to meet timelines and job placement targets.
- Provide marketing and statistical reports.
- Maintain accurate and complete client records using a computerized database.
Requirements
- Must possess a valid driver's license and a reliable, insured vehicle.
- Must provide proof of a valid driver's license and car insurance upon hiring.
- Flexibility in work scheduling to accommodate days, evenings, and weekends.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Ability to meet or exceed established targets.
Skills
- Sound knowledge of business-to-business techniques.
- Expertise in direct marketing or sales.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Sound working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Outlook.
