About the Role

The Complex Claims Consultant will primarily focus on high severity D&O and E&O claims under policies issued to Public Companies and Financial Institutions. This role involves investigating and maintaining complex professional liability claims, reviewing coverage, assessing liability and damages, and negotiating settlements within specific authority limits.

Responsibilities

  • Manages an inventory of highly complex litigated claims with large exposures requiring specialized technical expertise and coordination.
  • Ensures exceptional customer service by managing all aspects of the claim and communicating professionally.
  • Verifies coverage and establishes timely and adequate reserves by reviewing policy language and partnering with coverage counsel.
  • Leads focused investigation to determine independent assessment of liability and damages by gathering pertinent information.
  • Resolves claims by collaborating with internal and external business partners to develop and execute a claim resolution strategy.
  • Establishes and manages claim budgets by achieving timely claim resolution and overseeing appropriate resources.
  • Realizes and addresses subrogation/salvage opportunities or potential fraud occurrences.
  • Achieves quality standards by appropriately managing each claim according to company protocols.
  • Keeps senior leadership informed of significant risks and losses by completing loss summaries and preparing succinct summaries.
  • Maintains subject matter expertise and ensures compliance with state/local regulatory requirements.
  • Mentors, guides, develops, and delivers training to less experienced Claim Professionals.

Requirements

  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
  • Prior negotiation experience.

Experience Level

  • Minimum six years of relevant experience, preferably in Professional Liability claim handling or a minimum of six years in a law firm handling Professional Liability matters

Education Level

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • Juris Doctorate is preferred
  • Professional designations preferred (e.g. CPCU)

Salary/Compensations

  • $72,000 to $141,000 annually
