About the Role

The Surgical Technician provides direct patient care according to the patient's age and developmental level, adhering to ethical codes and hospital standards. This role is crucial for ensuring patient safety and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures.

Responsibilities

• Follow proper protocols and procedures for sharps, specimens, and aseptic techniques during procedures.
• Label medications on the sterile field.
• Verify the operative procedure and site with the patient and surgical team prior to commencement.
• Coordinate and demonstrate the proper use and handling of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain an accurate instrument and sponge count.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments.
• Provide safe and appropriate care for patients during positioning and transferring using appropriate positioning devices.
• Recognize emergent patient care situations and report findings.
• Promote and maintain overall cleanliness of the unit.
• Adhere to the Infection Control program to prevent the spread of infections, practice standard precautions, and protect self, peers, patients, and visitors from infection using appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.
