About the Role

The Surgical Technician provides direct patient care according to age and developmental level, adhering to ethical codes, standards of care, and organizational policies.

Responsibilities

• Follow proper protocols and procedures for sharps, specimens, and aseptic techniques during procedures.
• Label medications on the sterile field.
• Verify operative procedure and site with the patient and surgical team prior to commencement.
• Coordinate and demonstrate the proper use and handling of supplies, instruments, and equipment.
• Maintain an accurate instrument/sponge count.
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments.
• Provide safe and appropriate care for patients during positioning and transferring using appropriate positioning devices.
• Recognize emergent patient care situations and report findings.
• Promote and maintain overall cleanliness of the unit.
• Adhere to the Infection Control program to prevent the spread of infections, practice standard precautions, protect self, peers, patients, and visitors from infection, and use appropriate personal protective equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

• 1 year of healthcare experience

Education Level

• High school diploma
• Completion of an approved Surgical Technician training program

Salary/Compensations

• $26 - $38 per hour
