About the Role

The Director – Strategic Sourcing is responsible for developing and executing Sourcing Strategies in the Fiber Glass Roving, Resins, Plastics & Thermoforming categories to align with business objectives. This position manages commercial relationships with key strategic suppliers, employing category and contract strategies to manage expectations, control risk, and minimize costs. The role provides leadership to the category team in developing and executing supply base management strategies and manages a team by providing coaching and feedback.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing and supply management strategies to improve supplier performance, reduce costs, minimize risk, and foster innovation.
  • Develop, negotiate, and manage long-term agreements (LTAs) with key suppliers to manage supply and total cost of ownership.
  • Optimize the supply base through the deployment of strategic sourcing tools and processes.
  • Lead cross-functional category and supplier team meetings for sourcing initiatives and cost reduction projects.
  • Coach and mentor team members to build organizational category expertise.
  • Build and maintain effective business relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and present cost models to understand cost drivers and negotiate best-in-class pricing.
  • Monitor market trends and maintain subject matter expertise in defined areas.
  • Establish and communicate supplier performance expectations and monitor compliance.
  • Ensure supply continuity by proactively managing critical supply issues and securing supplier capacity.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and guidance to the Risk Management Team for hedging, inflation forecasting, costing, and pricing.
  • Visit supplier manufacturing facilities to conduct audits, verify capabilities, and build relationships.
  • Introduce new suppliers, products, processes, and technologies to Design and Engineering.
  • Identify and develop cost reduction ideas through supplier consolidation, alternative sourcing, labor reduction, warranty reduction, working capital reduction, and value analysis/value engineering.
  • Performs other duties as assigned within the scope of responsibilities and requirements of the job.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business/finance or engineering or related field preferred or equivalent work experience required.
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive Procurement experience preferred.
  • At least 5+ years of direct materials experience.
  • 3+ years of project/program management experience in a supply chain, procurement, product development, or manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of Sourcing, Materials Management, and Logistics.
  • Subject matter expertise in two or more of the following Categories: Fiber Glass, Plastics, Resin & Composites.
  • Language Skills a Plus (English & Spanish).
