About the Role

As an Environmental Services Technician, you will maintain a clean and sanitized hospital environment, protecting patients, visitors, and staff from potential illness or injury. This role is crucial for ensuring the safety and comfort of everyone within the facility.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, and dusting.
• Use specialized equipment and techniques for facility sanitization.
• Learn and adhere to proper disposal techniques for biohazard materials.
• Refill soap dispensers, paper towel dispensers, and other supplies.
• Deliver clean linens.
• Complete daily cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfecting principles.
• Display safe chemical use and equipment handling.
• Adhere to all organization safety, risk management, and infection control guidelines.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment.
• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas, identifying proper waste streams.
• Follow all infection prevention practices, including proper cleaning, disinfection, hand hygiene, and PPE usage.
• Adhere to patient privacy requirements (HIPAA).
• Practice critical thinking and demonstrate personal accountability.
• Identify and utilize appropriate resources to resolve concerns.
• Demonstrate knowledge of facility safety requirements.
• Operate and maintain all EVS tools and equipment.
• Perform additional tasks as needed, such as conference room setups and cleaning of stairwells and elevators.
• Mentor new Environmental Services Tech I employees.
• Collaborate with others as part of the patient care team.
