About the Role
Nimble Brain turns real-world operational data into training sets, evaluations, and feedback loops to enhance robot intelligence. This role is crucial for ensuring continuous robot learning by diagnosing and resolving issues at data collection sites, bridging the gap between operations and engineering, and developing tools to prevent recurring problems.
Responsibilities
- Act as first-line technical support beyond routine maintenance for data collection sites, diagnosing and resolving issues across rigs, teleoperation, capture systems, and associated software.
- Industrialize engineering workflows into floor-ready tools, building operator-facing interfaces, checklists, and automations for setup, calibration, and diagnostics.
- Build observability for collection operations, including rig health, calibration drift, and capture pipeline status, with alerts to surface problems proactively.
- Serve as the bridge between operations and engineering, owning the routing decision for every issue and translating engineering changes into site-absorbable documentation and training.
- Partner with site technicians on the hardware line, focusing on systems-level diagnosis, tooling, and engineering escalation paths.
- Utilize a data-driven approach to prioritize issue resolution based on the cost of failures and workflow frictions.
- Support site ramps and new-site bring-up, including rig installation, station configuration, and achieving steady state.
- Create and maintain documentation and runbooks in collaboration with technicians, supervisors, and engineering to enable site self-sufficiency.
Requirements
- 0-5 years of experience supporting and improving complex robotics or hardware/software systems in a production environment.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience combined with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or Robotics.
- Strong technical curiosity and debugging skills, including the ability to read technical logs and interpret data across hardware/software boundaries.
- Scripting and data fluency with Python, SQL, or equivalent, comfortable using AI tools for data analysis and internal tool development.
- Demonstrated excellence in communication and documentation, producing clear runbooks, interfaces, or well-specified requests.
- Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision across multiple sites and stakeholder groups.
- Sound judgment under pressure, capable of stabilizing immediate issues while considering long-term consequences.
- Comfortable with hands-on hardware interaction, including rigs, sensors, cameras, cabling, and physical production floor realities.
- In-person role at data collection sites with regular floor presence and potential travel between sites.
- Flexibility to support evening shifts and occasional urgent coverage.
- Willingness to work in production-floor environments with variable temperatures.
