About the Role
Tutored by Teachers is seeking a VP, Finance to own the finance function and serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO and leadership team. This role requires someone who understands the entire company, contributes to major decisions, and solves problems beyond traditional finance boundaries.
Responsibilities
- Own forecasting, annual planning, scenario modeling, and long-range financial planning.
- Build a clear operating cadence around key financial and operating KPIs.
- Assist leaders in making informed hiring, spending, and investment decisions and hold teams accountable for their financial performance.
- Manage cash forecasting, working capital, treasury, and liquidity.
- Oversee external accounting partners, AP/AR, tax coordination, and financial controls.
- Support major customer, vendor, and partnership negotiations with rigorous financial analysis.
- Partner with the CEO on Board materials, investor communications, fundraising, and strategic financial matters.
- Transform ambiguous business questions into structured analysis, recommendations, and actions.
- Drive important cross-functional initiatives to resolution.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience across strategic finance, FP&A, finance leadership, BizOps, consulting, banking, private equity, corporate strategy, or similar roles.
- Meaningful operating experience within a growing company.
- Strong command of financial statements, accounting, forecasting, cash management, unit economics, and corporate finance.
- Exceptional analytical and financial modeling skills.
- Experience using data and analysis to influence major business decisions.
- Experience presenting to executive teams and/or Boards.
- Experience building improved systems, processes, and operating cadences.
- Demonstrated judgment to balance high-level strategy with detailed operational understanding.
- Low ego, low drama, servant leadership style.
- One team mentality, breaking down silos and prioritizing the company and mission.
- Excellent listening skills and openness to feedback.
