About the Role
KIRA is building the next generation of financial applications using AI to make money smart, reliable, and accessible. We are looking for passionate individuals to help us redefine how people manage their finances.
Responsibilities
- Own a vertical end-to-end, including outcomes, metrics, and backlog prioritization.
- Shape technical designs with engineering, focusing on system boundaries, money-movement correctness, third-party integrations, and failure handling.
- Make and defend hard trade-offs between correctness, speed, cost, reliability, and user experience.
- Incorporate regulated constraints such as licensing, CDD/KYC, sanctions screening, and data privacy into product design.
- Define and implement AI features, specifying decision-making, human oversight, evaluation methods, and handling of uncertainty.
- Ship features against external gates, building behind flags and coordinating with partners and regulatory bodies.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Design, Compliance, Operations, Treasury, and Finance/Reconciliation teams.
Requirements
- Significant experience owning a complex technical product end-to-end.
- Strong judgment and decisiveness, especially under ambiguity.
- Ability to balance ambition with technical, regulatory, and operational realities.
- Comfortable challenging and collaborating with senior engineers.
- Solid system design understanding, including boundaries, datastores, queues, APIs, failure modes, and concurrency.
- Ability to review and challenge design documents and sketch architectures.
- Experience in a regulated domain (payments, banking, remittance, insurance) or demonstrable ability to ramp up quickly.
- Understanding of the unique aspects of money movement in regulated environments.
- Hands-on experience with LLM-based products.
- Ability to frame features for evaluation (offline, online, human feedback).
- Realistic understanding of AI limitations like hallucination, drift, and data gaps.
- Ability to determine when an AI model should not be in the loop.
- Strong English communication skills.
