About the Role

Cross Creek Hospital in Austin, TX is seeking a RN House Supervisor to join our nursing leadership team. This role is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of nursing operations, ensuring adequate staffing for patient care, and maintaining compliance with regulations and nursing standards. The position emphasizes patient safety and a positive, empathetic approach to care delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Anticipate and manage changes in census and acuity, allocating nursing resources based on patient needs.
  • Role model customer service expectations and demonstrate urgency regarding patient safety.
  • Enforce and interpret policies for patient and resident care delivery.
  • Ensure proper staffing for each unit, considering staff ratios, patient care needs, and covering call-offs/vacations.
  • Ensure chart checks, seclusion/restraint logs, nursing assessments, MARs, and report sheets are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Complete initial shift rounds and perform random audits.
  • Assist nursing leaders in orienting and ensuring staff competency, including coaching.
  • Provide mentoring and training as needed.
  • Assist the nursing leadership team by ensuring facility compliance with professional, regulatory, and governmental standards.
  • Ensure effective delivery of competent, compassionate, and safe care by monitoring patient care processes and outcomes.
  • Coordinate all patient care, including physician orders and diagnostic information, and ensure consultations are ordered.
  • Document medical, behavioral health information, and nursing care.
  • Administer medications and maintain records according to company policies.
  • Assist in developing and updating patient plans of care with specific goals and interventions.
  • Prioritize tasks and delegate staff to ensure quality patient care.
  • Serve as the shift leader for admissions and discharges, informing physicians of patient condition changes.
  • Adjust staffing accordingly.
  • Utilize administrator-on-call for situations requiring additional attention.
  • Provide direct care as needed.
  • Perform other assigned functions and tasks.

Requirements

  • Current registered nursing license in the state where the facility is located.
  • 1 year of experience as an RN in any setting required.
  • BSN from an accredited school of nursing preferred.
  • Greater than 1 year of experience as an RN strongly preferred.
  • 1 year of experience in psychiatric/recovery programs preferred.
  • Some experience as a charge RN or other leadership position strongly preferred.
  • Current certification or license to practice within the state where the facility is located.
  • CPR and de-escalation/restraint certification required (training available upon hire).
  • First aid may be required based on state or facility.
