About the Role

As Canada’s national public broadcaster, CBC/Radio-Canada delivers some of the most significant live events in the country. We are seeking a Senior Product Manager – Live Experiences to help shape and execute the product strategy for our real-time streaming capabilities across CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV. You will translate business goals and stakeholder needs into an actionable vision, drive the strategic roadmap for live features, and lead high-concurrency event readiness.

Responsibilities

  • Co-create the multi-year product roadmap for real-time streaming capabilities across CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV, ensuring platform readiness for high-stakes national events.
  • Serve as the primary product partner for Media Presentation, Content Programming, Media Solutions, and Marketing, translating complex dependencies into clear digital capabilities.
  • Partner closely with Solution Architects to define scalable, resilient solutions that support high-concurrency live experiences.
  • Create high-level strategic product briefs and performance metrics that empower the Live Experience Product Owner and team to deliver with speed and autonomy.
  • Champion new real-time features to elevate audience engagement with live content across both CBC Gem and ICI Tou.tv.
  • Define key performance indicators for product health, Quality of Service (QoS), and audience retention, leveraging real-time data to drive continuous platform optimization.
  • Facilitate strategic business conversations to resolve competing service priorities and align stakeholder objectives with overarching product goals.
  • Drive cross-departmental alignment of workflows, timelines, and technical dependencies across broadcast, engineering, digital, editorial, and business operations to deliver major live moments on Gem and Tou.tv.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of product management experience, with a proven track record of shipping scalable live video streaming or real-time interactive features in an OTT, broadcast, or high-concurrency digital environment.
  • Strong domain knowledge of live streaming workflows, low-latency playback protocols, video player integrations, dynamic ad insertion (DAI), and real-time data feeds.
  • Systems-oriented strategic thinking, with a demonstrated ability to convert high-level broadcast and business goals into structured 12–18 month product roadmaps across CBC Gem and ICI TOU.TV.
  • Proven executive presence, with experience presenting strategic plans to leadership, navigating organizational complexity, and working comfortably alongside senior executives.
  • Ability to drive clarity out of uncertainty, applying proactive risk-management, dependency-tracking, and capability-forecasting practices during high-stakes initiatives.
  • Exceptional stakeholder diplomacy, leveraging strong listening skills to translate complex technical challenges and build alignment across technical, editorial, broadcast, and business teams.
  • A strong user-experience lens, balancing seamless, intuitive design with the technical performance realities of real-time video playback.
  • Deep fluency in modern product frameworks (Agile discovery/delivery), with a knack for asking the right questions to unlock audience value.
  • Bilingualism in both English and French is a strong asset in our dual-service public broadcasting environment.
  • Candidates will be required to work in a multilingual environment, where business will be conducted in both official languages (English and French).
  • Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.
  • Candidates who advance to the next step will be asked to complete a background check, including a mandatory Criminal record check.
