About the Role

The Department of Transportation’s (DOT) mission is to provide for the safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible movement of people and goods in the City of New York. The Citywide Concrete Unit supports the agency’s goal to enhance, rehabilitate, and maintain the City’s infrastructure by acting as the agency’s primary construction unit.

Responsibilities

  • Checking and receiving, inspecting, loading onto and unloading from trucks supplies and materials
  • Distributing materials, tools and inventory to crews and various yard locations
  • Storing purchased tools, materials, and supplies in Bays and Storerooms
  • Maintaining the grounds of the facility and provide field assistance as needed
  • Reconciling purchase orders with sales orders, and distribute received inventory to designated field personnel
  • Facilitating inventory management and provide timely updates to the Supervisor about inventory status
  • Updating records of inventory in the Unit’s computer systems
  • Generating reports documenting lost or stolen materials, questionable conditions, and quality benchmark results
  • Preparing and completing orders for delivery or pick up according to schedule
  • Operating equipment (not limited to) Forklifts to move materials and items from receiving and storage areas of the facility
