About the Role

The Department of Homeless Services (DHS) is seeking an Administrative Director of Social Services NM-I to serve as a Deputy Director. This role will assist in managing and overseeing the Adult Family Intake Center and its application/eligibility processes, supervising a diverse staff, and ensuring efficient operations and fair treatment of applicants.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing, overseeing, and supervising the Adult Family Intake Center and the application/eligibility process.
  • Manage a large diverse staff of investigators, supervisors, and support personnel.
  • Supervise the Intake Unit, including client flow, referral process, pre-screening, and application completion.
  • Assist in monitoring referrals to HRA, Diversion, and NoVA Units, and placement with the HERO unit.
  • Plan and direct investigations into possible fraudulent or improper practices.
  • Assist in directing day-to-day investigations and maintaining records for the AFIC Unit.
  • Provide direct supervision of social services, facilities management, transportation, medical services, food services, special AFIC initiatives/events, and security.
  • Provide administrative direction regarding the application of administrative procedures and regulations.
  • Ensure accurate CARES implementation and ongoing CARES training for staff.
  • Oversee building operations and evaluate program efficiency, making policy recommendations.
  • Ensure all applicants at AFIC are treated fairly and equitably.
  • Interpret agency policies and procedures to ensure compliance with federal and state mandates.

Requirements

  • Applicants must be permanent in the Administrative Director of Social Services Civil Service title.
  • Applicants must be permanent in a comparable title eligible for 6.1.9 title change.
  • Applicants must be reachable with a score of 100 on the open competitive Administrative Director of Social Services exam (# 1121).
