About the Role

Fitch is seeking a Director for coverage of the Retail and Consumer sector within its North American Corporates Group. This role offers an opportunity to be a lead coverage analyst at a global rating agency within a team-oriented work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of key quantitative and qualitative factors influencing the credit quality of companies in the Retail & Consumer sectors
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive financial models
  • Conduct meetings with Retail & Consumer industry management teams
  • Present analysis of companies to internal credit rating committees
  • Communicate rating rationale to external audiences including institutional investors, sell-side analysts, and media via meetings, conference calls, press releases, and written research reports
  • Write timely and effective research on topical issues
  • Participate in the evaluation of other credits within Corporates and related credit groups
  • Represent Fitch in panel discussions and conferences arranged by industry associations and regulatory bodies
  • Mentor junior members of the Retail & Consumer sector
  • Potential involvement in managerial responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree minimum; MBA or other advanced degree is a plus
  • CFA/CPA preferred
  • 8+ years of relevant experience, including coverage or knowledge of the Retail & Consumer sectors
  • Capital markets and/or credit analysis experience is a plus
  • Employee management experience is a plus
  • Expertise in Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical, quantitative, and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to shift fluidly between multiple projects as priorities change
  • Ability to excel in a team-oriented environment
