About the Role
The Director - Finance, Group Manager, TDS oversees a team of Business Finance professionals providing strategic financial analysis, insights, decision support, and reporting. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting for Global Equities Derivatives businesses, acting as a key advisor to various stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Ensuring accurate and timely reporting for the income statement and balance sheet for Global Equities Derivatives businesses.
- Liaising with Front Office, Information Technology, Risk, Finance, and other control functions and key stakeholders.
- Providing insight and analysis of financial results as a key advisor to the front-office, Risk, Finance, and other key stakeholders.
- Managing a team of controllers supporting P&L validation processes and P&L attribution metrics for Volcker Reporting.
- Overseeing key controls and SOX controls review and sign-off.
- Ensuring the accuracy of P&L and Balance Sheet through robust substantiation.
- Informing senior management and key stakeholders of any significant irregularities.
- Reviewing and approving new product and material business changes.
- Identifying opportunities to improve/streamline processes leveraging AI technology.
- Proactively monitoring all operational issues pertaining to the trading portfolios assigned.
- Providing people management leadership by hiring talent, setting goals, developing staff, managing performance and compensation, promoting teamwork, and handling disciplinary actions.
- Overseeing a team of Finance professionals for key business segments or a significantly large part of the organization.
- Focusing on longer-range issues and solving highly sensitive, confidential, and complex financial management issues.
- Serving as the primary interface and high-level resource to Business leaders on financial performance measures, business objectives, and goals.
- Integrating knowledge of the enterprise function’s or business segment’s overarching strategy in leading program design, policy formulation, or operating standards.
- Anticipating emerging business trends and regulatory/risk issues to recommend large-scale product, technical, functional, or operations improvements.
- Developing and maintaining good relationships with internal Finance business/specialized Finance partners and other stakeholders.
- Effectively communicating recommendations on finance management issues or related operational processes to all organizational levels.
- Ensuring team collaboration with partners on business problems/issues and providing fact-based analytical advice.
- Liaising and interacting with internal/external auditors/regulators and ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Acting as a subject matter expert and practice resource lead, providing guidance and advice to support dealings with internal/external partners.
- Contributing to the analysis, due diligence, and execution of potential business restructures, acquisitions, joint ventures, and/or divestitures.
- Developing and/or assessing significant business cases/new initiatives.
- Managing/coordinating client requests for finance support and/or reports.
- Providing strategic support through assigned teams and offering relevant Finance insights/expertise and guidance.
- Participating on internal/external committees to provide advice/counsel or represent TD's interests.
- Planning resources and executing on strategic resourcing/professional practice activities.
- Leading/supporting the execution of the annual business plan.
- Managing overall budget, revenue, and expenditures.
- Leveraging data systems and various sources to formulate well-defined solutions.
- Proactively identifying key business opportunities, researching and recommending enhancements/modifications, and developing strategies for execution.
- Monitoring and communicating the effectiveness of strategies, programs, and practices.
- Protecting the interests of the organization by identifying and managing risks.
- Identifying/recommending/supporting the facilitation and/or implementation of action/remediation plans.
- Keeping abreast of emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.

Requirements
- University degree with a professional accounting/finance designation (i.e., CPA, CFA, CMA) or an MBA is an asset.
- 10+ years' experience in Product Control preferred, with specific experiences in Equity Derivatives and Equity Financing businesses in a large financial services organization.
- People Management experience leading large teams.
- Undergraduate degree.
- 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Accounting or financial designation preferred.
- People Management experience.
