About the Role

The Nursing Informatics Manager is responsible for clinical information retrieval to support quality initiatives, regulatory requirements, and performance improvement to enhance clinical efficiency and patient safety. This role serves as a key liaison between clinical and information technology departments.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an advisory resource to effectively utilize clinical information systems.
• Act as a liaison and problem solver between nursing and IT staff to ensure patient care is accurately captured in the EMR.
• Report feedback on new changes to clinical staff.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to create or streamline current documentation practices for efficiency.
• Demonstrate expertise in clinical care, medical center operations, and clinical informatics.
• Serve as a role model bridging clinical care and information technology functions.
• Participate in business process analyses, needs assessment, and cost/benefit analyses to align IT solutions with business initiatives.
• Utilize information technology to achieve excellence in patient outcomes, regulatory compliance, and financial initiatives.
• Participate in clinical informatics technology projects from readiness assessment and planning to implementation and ongoing education.
• Develop policies and procedures related to system usage and clinical workflow requirements.
• Prioritize and delegate tasks to less experienced Nurse Informaticians.
• Demonstrate expert knowledge of the system and provide guidance to staff in issue analysis and solution development.
• Demonstrate excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
• Demonstrate excellent ability to appropriately determine escalation levels of system issues.
• Maintain system integrity by monitoring clinical systems interfaces and error logs.
• Communicate and facilitate the sharing of information regarding supplies/implants to update the Supply Chain inventory database and transmit Finance Charges.
• May participate in Performance Improvement initiatives.
• Participate in QI Committee meetings and initiatives.
• Perform other related duties.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of current/evolving patient care delivery models and challenges and hospital operations with an appreciation for information systems theory and design.
• Expertise in clinical care of patients, medical center operations, and clinical informatics.
