About the Role

As a Senior Associate in Client Coverage, you will generate revenue, help clients solve problems by understanding and applying our data and benchmark solutions, and act as a team player to bring S&P Dow Jones Indices resources to every opportunity. You will be responsible for owning revenue growth and new product adoption metrics for data sales and IP licensing opportunities in your sales region, and capturing and communicating customer feedback and competitive information to guide product development. This role offers career development in sales with training and opportunities to learn from experts.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a new business plan for clients.
  • Learn sales processes and products quickly to take over client relationships.
  • Become an expert in S&P Dow Jones Indices' index data packages and client data usage.
  • Prioritize work and client opportunities to meet or exceed annual individual sales targets.
  • Develop and increase the S&P Dow Jones Indices commercial footprint with existing clients and prospect for new licensees.
  • Influence key decision makers and persuade them to prefer S&P Dow Jones Indices.
  • Contribute to go-to-market plans and client dossiers to expand pipeline and drive closure rates.
  • Assist senior team members in negotiating licenses for new intellectual property (IP) for investment product usage.
  • Manage complex contract negotiation and execution, developing usage rights and commercial terms.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to protect the brand and deliver value.
  • Identify, evaluate, and prosecute unlicensed data and IP usage.
  • Provide focused service to existing products, billing, and client queries.
  • Use the CRM system to maintain opportunity pipelines, meeting details, sales activities, and customer feedback.
  • Brief sales team leaders on licensing activity and knowledge of the competitive landscape.
  • Work from the office a minimum of 2 days per week.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a salesperson generating revenue.
  • Ability to learn and apply product knowledge, product design, and industry input.
  • Results-oriented behaviors related to agility, accountability, commitment, grit, and customer focus.
  • Attitude and capabilities to learn long cycle and abstract/conceptual sales, complex contract negotiation & intellectual property sales.
  • Experienced in a hands-on, proactive approach to achieving nearer-term revenue results.
  • Ability to establish and build relationships.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in commercial roles in financial services demonstrating drive, grit, integrity, teamwork, and a strong will to win.
  • Team player able to learn to bring together S&P Dow Jones Indices’ resources in Product Management, Marketing and R&D.
  • Ability to understand product ideas discussed with clients.
  • Fluency in bank trading and hedging practices in equity, fixed income, and alternatives.
  • Knowledge of key investment trends in banking including custom indexing, volatility, factor investing, Sustainability & ESG, multi-asset class solutions, swaps, futures and options use.
  • Effective communication skills in conversational speech, writing, and public speaking.
  • Personable attitude and persuasive approach.
  • Candidates who reach the final stage must attend at least one in-person interview.
