About the Role

Activity Leaders will assist with academic tutoring and lead engaging activities in STEM, leadership, sports, and the arts, preparing students to demonstrate newly acquired skills. The role requires a passion for working with children and promoting positive character development.

Responsibilities

• Establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among students.
• Organize, lead, and promote student interest and participation in program activities.
• Provide academic support, homework guidance, assistance, and supervision to students.
• Write age-appropriate, inclusive, and engaging lesson plans for activities.
• Foster an atmosphere of fun and learning, serving as a role model with professionalism and appropriate boundaries.
• Promote positive character development in all youth.

Requirements

• Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual.
• Must have a passion for the Greenwich House mission and a demonstrated interest in education and youth development.
• Requires strong academic skills in Math and English.
• Must be able to facilitate structured activities such as arts & crafts, games, and social-emotional learning.
• Must be flexible and available to work evenings, school breaks, non-instructional days, or weekend events as needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, parents, and staff.
• Well-organized, able to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Experience working or volunteering with youth in a classroom, after-school, or community-based environment.
• Experience working with children ages 3-11 in a group setting.
• Must pass a pre-employment background investigation, including fingerprinting, employment history, and criminal background check.
• Must complete mandatory DOH/OCFS training prior to employment.

Experience Level

• Previous experience as a group leader is a plus, but not required.
• College Students encouraged to apply!

Education Level

• High School Degree/Equivalent required.
• AA or BA in-progress preferred.
