About the Role

The Child Care Worker provides stability to children and families in the Therapeutic After School Program (TASP) by addressing clinical and childcare needs. This role involves leading groups of up to 10 at-risk youth with behavioral and mental health challenges in daily activities, requiring patience and professionalism to support their well-being and prevent out-of-home placement.

Responsibilities

• Provide safe and responsible transport for youth, families, and other Children's Home affiliates.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of at-risk children using discipline, therapeutic crisis intervention, CARE principles, and supervision.
• Effectively communicate behavioral, emotional, and medical needs to the Director or Case Manager.
• Provide for the recreational needs of at-risk children both on and off-site.
• Foster the social, vocational, and cultural needs and interests of each child.
• Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with children and families that are responsive to their needs.
• Promote the growth of the parent-child relationship according to the plan and agency philosophy.
• Maintain good relationships through collaboration and advocacy with DSS, community agencies, schools, staff, and other service providers.
• Complete required reports and documentation, including progress notes, treatment planning, case materials, and Connections Case Management System.
• Utilize family-centered practice approaches in service delivery and case planning.
• Continuously evaluate child and family strengths and needs for appropriate planning.
• Promote and guide the development of enhanced coping, socialization, parenting, and independent living skills.
• Facilitate the overall growth and development of each child through instruction, counseling, and direction in personal conduct, hygiene, appearance, social skills, school, routines, and work habits.
• Foster the physical, spiritual, and emotional needs of each child.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 1 year of experience working with children and/or families in a healthcare or educational setting required.
• Valid Driver's License and ability to maintain insurability required.
