About the Role
This position offers opportunities for professional advancement, growth, and leadership for qualified Teaching Assistants. It involves supporting new unit members and providing instructional support services to students under teacher supervision. Lead Teaching Assistants may also train and mentor new Teaching Assistants in behavior management and intervention strategies.
Responsibilities
- Provide support to unit members new to the district and/or working with our student population.
- Provide instructional support services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or certified teacher.
- Demonstrate individual direct instructional support to students as they develop social, communication and academic skills.
- Train new Teaching Assistants/Paraprofessionals in devising and implementing a motivational and behavior management system.
- Assist new or current Teaching Assistants in intervention strategies in support of student development and growth.
Requirements
- Qualified Teaching Assistants for professional advancement, growth, and leadership.
- Continue to accrue seniority in Teaching Assistant tenure area.
- Have the right to return to their previous position at the completion of a two-year tenure(s).
