About the Role

The Caseworker is primarily responsible for providing case management and counseling services to identified youth and families, including advocacy, referral and linkage, group, individual and family counseling, and crisis intervention.

Responsibilities

• Implement and coordinate services to children and families facing challenges at home and/or school to prevent out-of-home placement and improve academic performance.
• Provide intervention and support to families in crisis to maintain family unity.
• Complete all required documentation in a timely manner according to program standards.
• Assess children and families for risk, develop and implement service plans, draft petitions, and testify in Family Court.
• Provide Foster Care Services and locate placements when needed.
• Advocate for children and families to ensure adequate services from educational, legal, and community providers.
• Process and review all program referrals.
• Provide culturally competent services, empowering clients by utilizing their cultural strengths and informal support networks.
• Maintain professional relationships with other service providers and community organizations.
• Identify and report Untoward Incidents as required.
• Adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
• Complete all necessary written reports, statistics, case files, and summaries in a timely manner.
• Attend and participate in supervisory conferences, staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
• Maintain required program certifications.
• Provide door-to-door transportation, ensuring passenger safety and welfare.
• Handle emergency situations requiring flexibility in time and assignment.
• Perform other duties and related tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must have a valid New York State driver's license.
• Must have access to reliable transportation.

Skills

• Strong oral, written, and public speaking communication skills.
• Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills.
• High level of self-confidence and responsibility.
• Ability to work with complex systems (e.g., Probation, Family Court, Foster Care).
• Knowledge and/or experience with child welfare and juvenile justice systems.
• Ability to work independently with flexibility in days and hours.
• Experience doing home-based work in a rural setting is preferred.
