About the Role

This role is crucial for ensuring the accuracy and trustworthiness of data used by the business, especially as the company increasingly relies on AI for insights. You will own the data warehouse, dbt project, semantic layer, and Lightdash dashboards, ensuring data integrity before it's used for critical business decisions and KPIs.

Responsibilities

  • Set the direction of the data platform with the Data Lead.
  • Own the dbt project, warehouse, and semantic layer powering Lightdash and AI tools.
  • Ensure accuracy of AI tool outputs by curating definitions, documentation, and checks.
  • Own the Lightdash project as code, including the semantic layer and central dashboards.
  • Manage upgrades to the data platform for speed, currency, and cost-efficiency.
  • Partner with Finance, Marketing, Product, CX, and Operations to deliver insights.
  • Explore AI applications to accelerate and enhance analytics work.
  • Grow the data culture by improving data fluency and confidence across teams.
  • Utilize the data stack (Estuary, dbt, BigQuery, Lightdash, Hightouch) for operations and scalability.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of hands-on experience with dbt and BigQuery (or similar).
  • Experience improving existing dbt projects, including restructuring models, adding tests and CI, and managing build times and warehouse costs.
  • Strong SQL skills, including window functions, CTEs, and aggregate functions.
  • Strong experience with BI tools such as Lightdash, Looker, or Metabase.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for AI and its impact on analytics.
  • Passion for storytelling, turning data into insight and action.
  • Experience collaborating across departments to solve problems with data.
  • Experience improving data fluency in other teams.
  • An engaging communication style that makes complex insights accessible.
  • Curiosity, proactivity, and the drive to ask the right questions.
  • Experience in a fast-growth startup environment and a lean Data team.
