About the Role

Performs radiographs for the purpose of diagnosing disease in patients.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct x-ray examinations in accordance with the highest standard of safety, courtesy, morality, and privacy.
  • Responsible for the care of the patient during the performance of the x-ray examination in accordance with medical staff instructions.
  • Render emergency assistance if needed.
  • Apply proper patient identification and labeling of images using indelible markers.
  • Acquire x-ray images as ordered and indicated on the Radiology Information System (RIS) or as on the printed Control sheet.
  • Process high-quality diagnostic images for radiologist review and clinical diagnosis.
  • Accurately enter patient identifying information into RIS/PACS/Modality.
  • Provide adequate radiation protection measures for patients.
  • Maintain the imaging room in a clean and neat condition.
  • Notify supervisors and co-workers of equipment issues or maintenance needs that may compromise safety.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Graduate from an X-Ray technologist program.
  • No prior experience required.
  • Familiar with the needs of all infants, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Must know and use proper exposure techniques for all examinations to produce radiographs according to standards set by Director and Attending Radiologist.
  • Must know and follow rules and regulations regarding radiographic techniques.
  • Able to read and follow identified tests related to imaging.
  • Ability to fully utilize OBH Radiology electronic record systems, equipment, and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.
  • Current NY State License for X-Ray technology, required.
  • Must have completed an accredited course, issued a temporary license, and obtain NY State license within six (6) months from the issuance date of the temporary license.
  • Position requires prolonged periods of standing, reaching, and walking throughout the working day.
  • Position will be required to stoop, bend, lift, and carry items weighing or exerting force up to 75 pounds.
