About the Role
Redpanda is building the Agentic Data Plane (ADP), the streaming and data infrastructure for mission-critical agents in large enterprises. As a Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE), you will embed directly with strategic customers to build agents and integrations that deliver owned outcomes. This role requires hands-on building, not just advising or demonstrating.
Responsibilities
- Build at the customer site, writing production-quality agents, integrations, and data pipelines on Redpanda ADP within the customer's environment and codebase.
- Work in unfamiliar territory quickly, ramping up on new codebases and data environments to build on existing systems without causing issues.
- Own the technical deliverable by understanding engagement goals, designing technical approaches, building solutions, and ensuring they are documented, maintainable, and running in production.
- Act as the Redpanda technical voice with customer engineers, working alongside their team daily to build trust and ensure seamless integration.
- Drive toward a clean handoff from day one by creating usable documentation and training customer teams, avoiding the creation of dependencies.
- Feed learnings back to Product and Engineering by identifying patterns in customer needs and product challenges.
Requirements
- Production software engineering experience, including building backend systems, data pipelines, APIs, or agent systems.
- Experience building agents, working with LLM APIs, or integrating complex systems, with an understanding of agent reliability.
- Ability to operate in diverse environments, read unfamiliar code, understand its function, and extend it without breaking it.
- Customer-facing communication skills to partner effectively with customer engineering teams.
- Experience shipping solutions at a customer site or in a deployment context, understanding the difference between demos and production deployments.
