About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Thames team, part of Galliford Try. In this role, you will manage the commercial administration, reporting, and performance on a single large project or several smaller schemes. You’ll play a key part in ensuring financial control, contractual compliance, and successful delivery. This position involves travel across named project locations, so flexibility is essential.
Responsibilities
- Ensure a safe working environment and compliance with company standards.
- Produce subcontract documentation, including negotiation of terms, conditions, prices, and programmes.
- Manage subcontract works packages, including interim assessments and change management.
- Issue all commercial notices to clients and subcontractors as required by the contract.
- Manage change in line with contractual requirements, including Compensation Event Quotations.
- Prepare, submit, and agree monthly applications to the client.
- Liaise with operational and engineering teams to maintain accurate site records.
- Produce and present detailed monthly reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
- Maintain a detailed cost plan, tracking and forecasting expenditure, including subcontractor liabilities.
- Interpret and evaluate expenditure reports from internal cost systems.
- Lead weekly progress and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
- Support estimating and bid teams with contractual expertise.
Requirements
- Strong understanding of standard forms of contract.
- Excellent IT skills, including Excel, Word, and experience with CEMAR and Oracle systems.
- Solid knowledge of construction processes.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- First-class time management and organisational skills.
- Experience managing large projects or multiple smaller schemes.
- Commercially astute with strong analytical skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Collaborative team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Flexible and willing to travel extensively.
- CSCS card holder.
