About the Role

Certified Nursing Assistants at the Long Island State Veterans Home provide high-quality, compassionate care to residents, assisting with daily living activities under the supervision of an RN/LPN. The role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a strong understanding of resident care, and the ability to make ethical decisions aligned with the organization's mission.

Responsibilities

• Attend to residents' daily living activities, personal, hygienic, and simple human needs.
• Move, position, lift, and transport residents as directed by professional staff.
• Communicate with residents to encourage cooperation and participation in treatment activities.
• Transport residents and supplies on occasion.
• Maintain residents' rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
• Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct care.
• Participate in required quarterly in-service education to maintain certification.

Requirements

• NYS Nurse Aide Certification.
• Successfully clear a background investigation.
• Successfully complete pre-employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance.
• Complete electronic reference check with a minimum of three (3) professional references.
• Provide a copy of required license(s)/certificate(s).
