About the Role

The Tax Analyst role is responsible for executing day-to-day direct and indirect tax activities for Canadian business units, ensuring compliance with tax objectives and obligations. This role ensures timely and accurate tax compliance, reporting, and filing with relevant tax authorities for all applicable taxes. It also involves consolidating, reporting, and understanding tax cash forecasting for Canadian business units and the overall ICTC Canada budget. The Canadian Tax Analyst reports to the Canadian Tax Manager and collaborates with client business finance teams and Global Tax and Treasury teams.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate tax computations in a timely manner for statutory reporting (direct and indirect taxes, corporate income tax, VAT, Customs duties) and management reporting (GAM, FIN48, A32, Transfer Pricing Data Collection Package).
  • Prepare all required documentation for tax computations and submissions related to tax and transfer pricing matters, anticipating tax audits and adhering to tax defense strategy.
  • Prepare and submit T106 compliance for intercompany transactions.
  • Develop a withholding tax compliance process for services provided in Canada.
  • Follow the Principle of Mutuality in engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure Tax Manager is informed of any notice for tax assessment or audit.
  • Prepare data and support for CRA audit requests.
  • Prepare cash tax forecasts for Canadian businesses.
  • Coordinate purchase orders and liaise with accounts payable on third-party Tax partner invoices.
  • Prepare ICTC budget and perform periodic reconciliation, analyze actuals versus budget, and report issues to management.
  • Review PBT quarterly to ensure accuracy of tax provision and tax instalments.
  • Obtain forecasted PBT from Segment finance to support repatriation plan and segment allocation for journal entries.
  • Coordinate local ad-hoc tax payment request submissions to CRA, Local Municipalities, and Provincial taxes.
  • Support the digital agenda for the Canadian tax team and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Perform ad hoc project work as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field.
  • Professional accounting designation (CPA) and/or advanced tax specialization is an asset.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Canadian tax, preferably within a multinational organization and/or Big 4 environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven experience analyzing financial statements and preparing direct and indirect tax returns.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Experience with data and reporting tools is an asset (PowerBI).
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, MS Dynamics, or Oracle is an asset.
  • Demonstrated learning agility with the ability to adapt to evolving tax regulations and legislation.
