About the Role

NRDC is seeking Spring Litigation Interns to work with lawyers in its Chicago, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. offices. The Litigation Team handles a variety of environmental and public health cases, collaborating with communities most impacted by environmental injustices. Interns will play an active role in supporting litigation through substantive writing and research, collaborating with NRDC Litigation attorneys.

Responsibilities

Researching and preparing legal memos for rulemaking, litigation case development, and active litigation.
Interviewing NRDC members and preparing standing declarations.
Drafting and reviewing portions of pleadings and briefs.
Preparing comments for submission to administrative agencies or legislative bodies.
Crafting proposed legislation to address environmental and public health problems.

Requirements

Must be a second (2L) or third year (3L) law student in a J.D. program or in an LLM program during spring 2027.
Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral communication skills.
Experience effectively working on a team.
Creativity and resourcefulness.

Growth mindset and openness to feedback.
Demonstrated ability to work with people across different social identities and backgrounds.
Record of academic and/or professional accomplishment.
