About the Role
In a customer service-oriented manner, interviews patients and/or their representative to collect required registration data, including demographic and financial information, and obtains necessary signatures. Communicates mandated patient information and verifies its accuracy. Processes include insurance verification, obtaining precertification/authorization, co-payment collection, and discussing financial assistance needs with patients.
Responsibilities
- Manages incoming calls while providing necessary information.
- Greets patients and/or their representatives and provides direction as needed.
- Schedules and/or preschedules patient appointments.
- Interviews the patient and/or their representative for necessary information and completes the registration process as defined by departmental policy.
- Identifies services where no payment source has been identified to follow up with communication of financial assistance and/or payment arrangements.
- Verifies insurance eligibility/coverage and obtains necessary precertifications/authorizations when applicable.
- Collects/processes co-payments, deductibles, and/or other types of payments.
- Provides an estimate of cost when applicable.
- Reviews charges in charge review WQs for completeness and accuracy.
- Ensures the accuracy of all data collected while meeting regulatory requirements as outlined by departmental policy.
- Communicates with external customers such as payers, physician offices, and other departments.
- Accurately sets up new patient records via Care Connect.
- If qualified, may be asked to interpret on occasion.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Flexibility and transportation to other medical group locations or other affiliated locations required (RGMG Only).
Requirements
- Intermediate computer skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- One year of customer service experience preferred.
- Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
