About the Role
We are seeking an Account Technology Strategist within the Public Sector Business Unit, specifically for the Local Government and Education Division at Microsoft Japan. In this role, you will serve as a technical sales advisor to local government and educational institutions, guiding them to adopt and utilize Microsoft's cloud and AI technologies in a secure and differentiated manner from a technology strategy perspective. You will be responsible for the entire Microsoft cloud product suite, including Microsoft 365, Azure, AI, and security, designing and implementing optimal end-to-end solutions for clients. This role involves orchestrating internal and partner resources, providing feedback on product specifications to headquarters engineering, and leading the adaptation and improvement of products for the public sector. You will be a cross-functional leader spanning sales, go-to-market strategies, solution development, and product improvement. Japan's local governments and educational institutions are undergoing significant transformation. We are looking for passionate individuals who can understand client needs amidst national strategies related to citizen services, AI utilization in education, improving the work environment for faculty and staff, and AI for scientific research, and who are eager to drive digital transformation across Japanese society.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technology strategy advisor to clients (local governments, educational institutions, or both), leading cross-departmental virtual teams internally to assess client needs and accelerate/close opportunities for M365, Azure, Copilot, and other MS AI services through stakeholder orchestration.
- Build and strengthen relationships with client business decision-makers by understanding industry insights and challenges, uncovering new opportunities across MS services, and aligning solutions with client business/technical priorities, governance, decision-making, and budget processes.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute MS service proposals with internal stakeholders and partners to drive cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.
- Lead discussions with decision-makers (BDMs and ITDMs) regarding MS service adoption, share best practices and competitive information, and support decisions on pursuit/withdrawal as an expert. Stay updated on competitive advantages and advancements in Azure-related AI solutions, leading discussions with clients and partners while contributing to team skilling.
- Develop account plans across the territory, conduct competitive analysis and business analysis, identify high-potential clients, and manage Azure solutions organization-wide.
- Collaborate with various internal Microsoft organizations, as well as external clients and partners, to maximize security outcomes for the public sector.

Requirements
- Over 8 years of practical experience as a technology consultant, SE, technical sales, pre-sales, or architect in the cloud domain, specifically for public institutions, education, or similar organizations, or equivalent experience.
- Native-level Japanese language proficiency.
- Business-level English proficiency (for understanding technical documentation and liaising with headquarters).
