About the Role

This position leads the development and support of infrastructure for the Bank’s database technologies, serving as a technical lead for project planning, problem resolution, and hardware/software support. The role involves presenting reliable, adaptable, and cost-effective technical solutions to management, leading technical teams, and ensuring smooth application performance through system implementation, upgrades, and testing. It also provides expert guidance across multiple technologies and may involve leadership responsibilities for other database administrators.

Responsibilities

Provides consultative direction and technical advice on the Bank’s software, hardware, and related database infrastructure.
Supports Technology and Operations in addressing reliability, availability, scalability, security, and recovery.
Provides on-call support to ensure availability and reliability of database infrastructure.
May be asked to act as a team lead, assigning tasks and mentoring/training team members.
Evaluates the performance of existing and proposed systems components.
Analyzes hardware platforms, operating systems, applications, and data assets.
Provides insight into new systems software, hardware, and applications.
Investigates solutions for enhanced data recovery.
Supports technical systems that execute business applications.
Configures, installs, and upgrades systems.
Manages technical projects and assists management with business initiatives.
Resolves complex technical problems and failures.
Automates tasks for improved efficiencies.
Maintains a strong knowledge base to consult and direct others on technical matters.
Communicates clear technical information across platforms.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree and 8 years' experience OR High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent and 12 years' experience in Database Technologies

Skills

Understanding of relational database constructs
High availability design of databases
Structured query language
Familiarity with various tools or utilities used in supporting database platforms (Commvault, TOAD, DBVisualizer, Idera, Solarwinds, etc.)
Design of databases
Familiarity of multiple database platforms (SQL Server, Oracle, DB2, Netezza, etc.)

Experience Level

8 years' experience in Database Technologies
12 years' experience in Database Technologies

Education Level

Bachelor's Degree
High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent
