About the Role
ProMach is seeking a Buyer to source, purchase, and manage inventory of materials, products, and services. This role involves evaluating suppliers, negotiating contracts, placing purchase orders, and ensuring timely procurement to support business operations and automation advancements.
Responsibilities
- Source, purchase, and manage inventory of materials, products, and services.
- Evaluate suppliers, negotiate pricing and contracts, and place purchase orders.
- Monitor delivery schedules to ensure timely and cost-effective procurement.
- Collaborate with internal departments to forecast purchasing needs and maintain optimal inventory levels.
- Resolve supply chain issues and ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards.
- Purchase commercial and non-commercial parts and operating supplies.
- Communicate and track inability to meet release requirements.
- Coordinate with vendors for product information, pricing, and delivery dates.
- Track and manage daily on-time delivery and vendor quality.
- Determine the need for expediting and take corrective action on late orders.
- Coordinate purchasing activities with manufacturing, planning, inventory, and engineering.
- Resolve accounting discrepancies and process supplier returns/rejections.
- Track and post weekly/monthly results, establishing goals and benchmarks.
- Work with management to establish and develop purchasing systems and processes.
- Attend production meetings and resolve outstanding issues.
- Utilize ERP Software (Syteline) at a high level.
- Maintain "item master" records, "methods of manufacture" (MoM), costing methods, and "bill of material" (BOM) exports.
- Participate in ERP Software maintenance, coordination, strategic utilization, and development.
- Manage commercial stock and modified parts for machine shop fabrication.
- Manage commercial parts supplied to outside vendors for fabrication.
- Achieve and track discounts while optimizing volume leverage with vendors.
- Serve as a backup for other associated and non-associated areas as needed.
- Perform other assigned tasks on an as-needed basis.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience purchasing components utilizing MRP/ERP.
- Understanding of purchasing principles, including research, analysis, and negotiation.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage a dynamic workload.
- Excellent communication, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Professional phone and internal business etiquette.
- Professional interpersonal communication skills, maintaining composure.
- Persistence, determination, and a drive to complete tasks.
