About the Role
Join our Global Competition Hub as an Architectural Assistant (Part I or II) to explore ideas, develop concepts, and create compelling design responses for competitions. You will contribute to projects where strong ideas, experimentation, and beautiful design communication are paramount.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development of architectural and urban design ideas from research and concept generation through to presentations and competition submissions.
- Explore spatial and material concepts.
- Test different approaches through 3D modelling.
- Produce drawings and visualisations.
- Research architecture and urban design.
- Help the team communicate a clear design story.
- Work across a varied range of projects and locations.
- Learn from and collaborate with designers across Hassell.
Requirements
- Completed, or be completing, an appropriate qualification in Architecture, Urban Design or a related discipline.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Portfolio and CV submission required.
- Previous experience as an architectural intern, student or assistant within an architecture or design practice would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
- Revit experience would be beneficial, but isn’t essential.
- Experience with parametric design tools such as Grasshopper or Dynamo would also be beneficial.
- Physical model-making and experience working with 3D printing would be an advantage.

- Strong interest in architecture and urban design
- Curious, creative approach to design and problem solving
- Well-rounded design skills with a strong graphic sensibility
- Ability to develop and communicate ideas through drawings, images and 3D modelling
- Confidence using different graphic techniques to create high-quality presentations and visual material
- Ability to think independently, show initiative and contribute ideas to the design process
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively when priorities and deadlines shift
- Ability to work collaboratively and deliver high-quality work to tight competition deadlines
- Strong digital design and visualisation skills
- Rhino and visualisation software such as V-Ray or Enscape
- Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator
- Interest in and working knowledge of AI tools for image or video generation
