About the Role

Under general guidance, operates computed tomography to assist in the safe and efficient diagnosis and assessment of patient conditions, in accordance with established procedures.

Responsibilities

• Greets registered patients and manages patient flow, including checking schedules and accompanying patients to exam rooms.
• Assists patients with mobility, transfers, dressing, and preparation for exams.
• Reviews and verifies patient identity, history, and requisition for the exam.
• Performs computed tomography scans to identify potential pathology and modifies testing parameters as directed for accurate imaging.
• Explains procedures to patients, answers questions, and ensures patient comfort during scans.
• Prepares and administers contrast media and/or medications within the scope of practice and departmental protocols.
• Processes and archives images according to established procedures.
• Ensures patient safety and maintains a sterile environment, observing standard infection control precautions.
• Assists and trains current and new employees on systems, equipment, and departmental policies.
• Identifies and reports equipment malfunctions, may perform minor adjustments, and monitors external service actions.
• Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as per established procedures.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and equipment, orders supplies as authorized, and confirms accuracy of deliveries.
• Assists with cost control measures.

Requirements

• Approximately 2 years of experience working as a CT technologist.
• NYS Intravenous Contrast Administration certification can be obtained within 6 months of hire.

Skills

• Graduate of approved school of radiography.
• Current, active and unrestricted New York State License in Radiographic Technology (R).
• ARRT (R) Certification.
• ARRT (CT) Certification; required to obtain within 6 months - 1 year of hire date.
• NYS Intravenous Contrast Administration Certification- required to obtain within six months of hire date.
• BLS Certification (issued by the American Heart Association).
