About the Role
The Property Accounting Associate will provide accounting administrative support for a portfolio of properties, including tasks like bank account reconciliations and report package assembly.
Responsibilities
- Perform regular bank account reconciliations to maintain an accurate daily cash balance.
- Assist the Property Accounting team in compiling monthly financial information according to deadlines and requirements, adhering to accounting policies and procedures, and maintaining effective internal controls.
- Assist the Property Accounting team in preparing financial packages for multiple clients with different reporting requirements.
- Assist the Property Accounting team in reviewing and recording journal entries to maintain income and revenue in industry-specific software.
- Communicate and collaborate effectively and in a timely manner with Property Accountants and above, providing exceptional customer service.
- Work independently to complete tasks.
- Utilize systems and tools to complete work in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- College coursework completed in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent experience preferred.
- Knowledge of fundamental accounting concepts, including debits and credits, journal entries, and the accounting equation.
- Knowledge of bookkeeping practices, including maintaining ledgers, reconciling accounts, and managing financial records.
- Knowledge of Industry Specific Software such as Yardi.
- Skilled in organization, with the ability to manage multiple tasks, deadlines, and priorities efficiently.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite with a high proficiency in Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to spot discrepancies and errors in financial records.
- Ability to accurately enter and manage financial data in accounting systems and spreadsheets.
- Ability to work independently to complete tasks.
- Ability to utilize systems/tools to complete work in a timely manner.
- May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to read documents, computer screens and data.
- Must be able to hear and understand verbal communications in person and over the phone or computer.
- May occasionally be required to lift or carry items such as files or office supplies weighing up to 15 pounds.
- Must be able to operate a computer, keyboard, mouse and other office equipment.
- Employment with RPM Living is contingent upon successful completion of a background check as local and federal state requires.
- A valid driver’s license is preferred; candidates without a license will be provided a liability waiver.
